The HighPoint Idea...

Early in 1990, Marquette's Managing Partners made a milestone decision to specialize in developing residential communities solely. They committed themselves to discovering how living in community with others can help fulfill peoples lives.

That same year, Marquette announced its exclusive "WE C.A.T.E.R." program. "Customized Attention To Every Resident" revolutionized apartment living by creating added value for its residents by providing extraordinary customer service. Marquette set the standard for resident customer services and is copied by fine apartment communities everywhere today.

Thus was born the concept of adding value to those beautiful places we learned so well to build. We learned that building homes is just the beginning in creating real value where you live. As we gave more customer service, people paid more and stayed longer ... and for most residential managers, that is an accomplishment to be proud of.

For us, it wasn't enough. Our residents still longed for something missing, something that would fill their emptiness. They wanted to belong, feel important, feel valued and benefit from the experience of others. Marquette embarked on a journey to discover the nature of building genuine community in hopes of filling the emptiness of our residents.

Marquette's managing partners consulted with business, civic and spiritual leaders. They affiliated with sociologists, psychologists, and experts in the technology of communication and interpersonal relationships. And in 1996, they helped form the ( IFC ) Institute For Community... A non-profit corporation committed to helping people build quality relationships where they live and work through power of community; a organization formed to explore the very nature of relationships in effective living.

With the help of the IFC, and other experts, Marquette evolved the structure for developing genuine community, and licensed coursework in communication, accountability and community building. Today, Marquette offers community building workshops to its employees and residents alike, in hopes of living and working more effectively together.

When the opportunity for developing a new community named HighPoint emerged in 1995, the idea to affiliate with the IFC as a sponsor for achieving community enrichment came to life. HighPoint is the first major assignment for the IFC in "building genuine community from the ground-up"...an alliance and commitment that is unique in this country today.

We believe that HighPoint is the beginning of an era of genuine community building. HighPoint is the new prototype for building residential communities of tomorrow, one that is setting the standard by which new suburban developments will be measured.

For Marquette, community building is serious business ... it's your life.
