Building For Tomorrow
The integration of technology into the infrastructure of HighPoint Community, in Romeoville, is essential in providing residents throughout the community with instant access to the latest in communication tools.
"We believe that high-tech communication tools, such as email and internet access, will help facilitate interaction between residents within the community."
The Marquette Companies, the Naperville based developer of HighPoint, established alliances with local technology providers to construct the infrastructure and link together a multi-faceted telecommunications program, including enhanced telephony, cable and internet service.
"Each home is "internet ready" for a T1 connection to the internet. This allows the residents to access the web at speeds up to 300 times greater than traditional dial-up modems."
Each resident also receives a complimentary email address, even if they dont purchase the internet service. For residents without personal computers or those who want to "surf the net" over a cappuccino, free computer access is provided through a cyber-café within the Community Centre.
Residents also receive complimentary voice mail allowing for layered broadcast calling. In other words, residents can create a list of friends or club members, within the community, and leave a broadcast message for them with one simple phone call. The voice mail system also allows for easy access to resident services and maintenance and even local restaurants, theaters, and community service providers.
"The voice mail system is a powerful tool for notifying residents of upcoming events and making other announcements. With one call I can leave a voice mail message for 552 residents, saving us time and paper."
